"At least she's giving me some freedom," Mewtwo thought to himself as he weaved through the trees. "That's more I could say about her than most humans I've encountered..." But still, the suspicion persisted within himself. What if she wasn't giving him anything at all? What if this was all a ploy to get his guard down? After all, he didn't know anything about her...what if she was employed by the scientists who had first made him, and she captured him only to hand him over to them to experiment on him further?

His thin, short coat of fur stood on end, and his tail flicked from side to side uneasily. He scanned the area with his telepathy, and the meager numbers of Pokemon in the area calmed him slightly. There weren't any humans here, besides Olivia...but that did little to assuage his fears. He huffed slightly, and then caught the sound of running water. He swallowed; suddenly, it was rather alarming that he couldn't remember the last time he had a drink. He followed the sound, and came across a small clearing.

The clearing was pleasant; deep green grass carpeted the earth, small white flowers dotted the area, and a small pond that lay at the bottom of a miniature waterfall. As he stepped into the clearing, a pair of Oddish and a Rattata looked up, startled. Mewtwo stopped and turned his head away from them slightly, taking a non threatening posture. They stared at him for a few more moments before scurrying off into the tall grass.

He watched them go, a hollow feeling in his chest making his tail droop slightly. His expression hardened slightly, and he stepped up to the pond, his feet sinking into the lush grass. He levitated a sphere of water out of the pond, but he didn't feel thirsty all of a sudden. Despite this, he took a long drink, surprising himself by consuming not just one, but three spheres of water.

After his thirst was quenched, he looked up at the sun, squinting in retaliation to the brightness. It looked like it was getting close to the time that he needed to return to Olivia. As he gazed up at the deep blue sky, his tail waved from side to side fluidly. "I could just...fly away." He thought, and for a moment, the idea was tempting. He rose into the air and then hesitated, hovering above the treetops.

"...but where would I go?" He thought, a tinge of melancholy threading through his words. He sighed and floated back down to the ground. He trudged back to the campsite, his head bent and eyes firmly trained on the ground.

As he walked back into the campsite, his fur bristled with shock as he was bowled over by an extremely heavy blur of yellow fur. He was stunned momentarily at the physical contact, and his eyes widened as he saw a Jolteon standing on his chest, her black eyes and her big smile the picture of pure excitement. "Hi! I'm Boltquill! What's your name? What type are you? What's your favorite color?" She rattled off questions rapid fire, furthermore stunning Mewtwo into silence.

"Boltquill, get off him." An Arcanine strode over and head butted Boltquill off of Mewtwo. Mewtwo stood up quickly, looking at them with a mixture of caution and confusion. The Arcanine huffed with amusement. "Don't mind her. She's really happy when she meets someone new."
"Who are you?" Mewtwo asked, his tail twitching from side to side. "I'm Flamepaw." He introduced, shaking his mane so that it puffed out from his head. "Glad to have you with us." He said, wagging his bushy tail.

Mewtwo looked around, noticing other Pokemon in the area. "Oh! Ooh! Let me say everyone's names!" Boltquill said as she rolled up onto her paws and jumped around Flamepaw in a circle. "Pleeeeease!" She begged. Flamepaw shook his head. "Oh, alright." He sighed, smiling as she gave a high pitched squee of happiness. Mewtwo flinched and grimaced. Boltquill was beside him in a flash. "Come on come on come on!" She said excitedly, pushing on his legs and making him walk.

"This is Tidefrost! She's really cool! She can shoot water out of her mouth and swim and everything!" Boltquill said, sitting down next to Mewtwo and looking up at him with a grin on her face. He surveyed Tidefrost quietly. The Lapras that was floating in a large inflatable pool smiled softly at him. "I'm part water type, Boltquill. It's only natural that I know." She said gently, a hint of amusement in her voice. "I know that!" Boltquill said cheerfully. She sprang to her feet and pushed Mewtwo along before he had a chance to say anything.

They stopped in front of a huge Venasaur that was sprawled out on its belly in the sunlight. It's eyes were closed, and it breathed deeply, a picture of perfect contentment. "Ferngrove! FERNGROVE WAKE UP!!!" Boltquill yelled as loud as she could. Mewtwo scowled at her. Ferngrove shifted, his massive body rippling. The giant flower on his back put out a pleasant scent. "Mmh?" He mumbled, opening his eyes blearily. "Boltquill? What do you want?" He asked in a dreamy, half awake tone. "It isn't lunch yet." Boltquill rolled her eyes. "This is Ferngrove. He may look like a Snorlax now, but he's really good at battling!" She said as Ferngrove gave an enormous yawn and- if it were possible- sunk even lower as he flattened himself out. Mewtwo huffed slightly, the aroma making him relax despite his unsettled mood.

Boltquill shook her head and pushed Mewtwo along. They arrived in front of Olivia, who was smiling broadly. "Have fun?" She asked Mewtwo, as she shook Pokemon food into different sized bowls. The Areodactyl that was standing next to her eyed Mewtwo challengingly. "This is Bonewing! He's pretty much the coolest one on the team! He can fly and shoot lasers out of his mouth and make earthquakes and all that awesome stuff!" Boltquill said. "Ooh! Is that food? Is it lunchtime? Yay! What are we having?" She asked curiously, zipping over to Olivia.

Bonewing and Mewtwo locked eyes for a few moments, not moving. Mewtwo swished his tail once, and then Bonewing blinked. "You're a good fighter, I'll give you that." He rasped in a low, intimidating voice. "The best I've encountered. Trouble is: do you have the honor to obey your Trainer?" He asked, then rustled his wings and shuffled off to the food. Mewtwo turned his head, keeping him locked within the sight of those cold amethyst eyes.

He retreated when everyone started gathering around him, slipping into the shade of a nearby tree. He leaned against the trunk, watching the others with an analytical curiosity. Several minutes later, Olivia spotted him and went over to him with a bowl of food. "Do you want something to eat?" She asked him, offering the bowl to him. He turned his head away, refusing to interact with her.
"Come on, try it!" She persuaded, smiling encouragingly. "Just one piece." Mewtwo huffed and twitched his tail, folding his arms. "Please? I don't want you to starve." She tried again, genuine concern in her voice. Mewtwo thought a moment, and then levitated a piece out of the bowl. He sniffed it cautiously. "It's good! This type is made especially for psychics." Olivia said encouragingly. Mewtwo shot her a look, and then popped it into his mouth, chewing it thoroughly and swallowing.

"What do you think?" Olivia asked, smiling hopefully. Mewtwo paused, and then levitated the bowl out of her hands and walked a short distance away, sitting down underneath another tree. Olivia grinned happily, glad that he decided to eat. "Mewtwo?" She asked, walking near him. He scowled at her, a pellet of the food in his hand. "I'm sorry if I made you mad earlier. I didn't mean to." She apologized. Mewtwo stared at her, his eyes hard. He nodded, and then pushed her away with a telekinetic force. She stumbled, and frowned slightly as she walked away. "Why is he so antisocial?" She wondered. "I'm going to get to know him." She thought determinedly. "Even if it takes the rest of my life, I'm going to be friends with him!"
